Who we are

Blue Collar Optics is a prescription safety eyewear shop at 14829 Bellaire Blvd, Suite 9A, Houston, TX 77083. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, by WhatsApp, by email and in our shop, what we do with it, and the choices you have. Information we collect

• Order details. When you check out, our payment provider Stripe collects your name, email, phone number, shipping address and payment details. We receive your name, email, phone, shipping address and what you bought. We never see or store your full card number.
• Your prescription. To make prescription lenses we need a copy of your eyeglass prescription, which you send us by WhatsApp, by email or in person. A prescription is health information, and we treat it as sensitive.
• Messages. What you write to us by WhatsApp, email or phone, including any photos you send.
• Technical data. Our hosting provider records basic technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to run and protect the website.

How we use your information

We use it to process and ship your order, make your lenses, contact you about your order, handle returns and warranty claims, keep the business and tax records the law requires, and protect the website and our customers against fraud.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for targeted advertising, and we do not send you marketing messages unless you ask us to.

Your prescription and health information

We use your prescription only to prepare, check and remake your lenses, and only after you send it to us. It is shared with the optical lab that makes your lenses and with no one else, except where the law requires it. Please send only your prescription; we do not need any other medical information.

WhatsApp messages are end-to-end encrypted. Regular email may not be. If you prefer, you can bring your prescription to our shop.

Who we share information with

Only with the service providers we need to complete your order, and only what each one needs:

• Stripe processes payments (Stripe’s privacy policy).
• Our optical lab, Optical Outsource, receives your prescription and order details to make your lenses. Prescriptions sent by email go to Orders@opticaloutsource.com.
• WhatsApp and Google (Gmail) carry the messages and emails you send us.
• Shipping carriers receive your name, address and phone number to deliver your order.
• Vercel hosts this website.
• Authorities or advisers, when the law requires it or to protect our legal rights.

Cookies and browser storage

This website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not track you across other websites. The frames catalog remembers your lens tint, search and filter in your browser’s session storage, which is deleted when you close the tab. Stripe’s checkout page sets its own cookies to process payments and prevent fraud.

How long we keep it

We keep order and payment records for as long as tax and accounting rules require, generally up to 7 years. We keep prescriptions and messages for up to 2 years after your last order, so we can honor warranty claims and remake lenses, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we have about you, to correct it, to delete it, or to send you a copy. Texas residents have these rights under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, and residents of other states may have similar rights. We extend them to every customer.

To make a request, email bluecollaroptics@gmail.com or message us on WhatsApp. We may ask you to confirm your identity, and we will answer within 45 days. If we decline your request, you can appeal by replying to our answer; we will respond to an appeal within 60 days. If you disagree with the result of your appeal, you can contact the Texas Attorney General.

Security

We limit access to your information to the people who need it to fill your order, and our providers protect it with encryption and access controls. No system is perfectly secure; if we learn of a breach that affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.

Children

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information online. Orders for a minor’s eyewear must be placed by a parent or guardian.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the new version here and update the date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced on our homepage.
